Dragon’s Apprentice supporting Carers


Seven students from St. Francis’ College, Letchworth Garden City are taking part in the 2014 Dragons’ Apprentice Challenge which is being organised by North Herts CVS and involves Year 12 students from schools across North Herts and Stevenage.
Teams of students (the Apprentices) are set a challenge to turn £100 into £1,000 for a local community group or charity tby developing a mini-business /enterprise. Each Team has a business mentor (Dragon) who provides support in the form of advice and access to resources to help them achieve their business goals and funding target.
Called ‘Asian Power’ the team from St. Francis’ College have chosen Crossroads Care Hertfordshire North as their Charity and Matt Bean, Marketing Manager for North Herts College is their Dragon.
The team have organised a range of activities over the coming months to raise funds for their Charity, including tombola stalls and a Chinese New Year Event.
Mrs. Katherine Purchon, Librarian and Charity Co-ordinator at the College who is supporting the team said “St. Francis’ College Dragons’ Apprentice Team – Asian Power – are delighted to be raising money for such a worthy charity as Crossroads Care who provide breaks for unpaid family carers.”
An Awards event celebrating the achievements of All the Apprentice Teams will be held in March 2014.
