During National Carers Week in June Oliver Heald MP for North Herts joined a group of carers for Coffee at the Letchworth Hall Hotel. He paid tribute to the work of carers and spent time over coffee talking to carers and those they care for. He heard about the support and help carers give to their loved ones and listened to some very poignant personal stories from local carers Mary Davey and Mirka Anderson. The event was kindly sponsored by John Lewis Distribution and the Mercure Letchworth Hall Hotel.
After the event, attended by nearly 40 carers and guests, Oliver Heald said “it is inspiring to meet carers and to learn how much they do for family and friends, often quietly and without the knowledge of others. I was pleased to support National Carers Week by meeting members of Crossroads Care Hertfordshire North.
Sheelagh Taylor Chief Executive of Crossroads Care said “Unpaid family carers have a champion in Oliver Heald MP in pledging his strong support for carers who have an often unrecognised, but massively important role in looking after someone who is ill, frail or disabled. We are Crossroads Care offer practical and emotional support to help carers in their caring role and having Oliver’s backing at a local and national level is just wonderful.”
