National Carers Week takes place this year from 18th – 24th June and the theme this year is ‘In sickness and in health’.
Carers are being asked how much their caring role impacts on their health and wellbeing and whether they are worried that the cuts to services from statutory agencies and the government will make them shoulder even more of a burden.
At a local level Crossroads Care provided a service to 675 adult clients during 2010/11 and the primary disabilities/conditions of our clients apart from those who are elderly and frail are Alzheimer’s/Dementia, Stroke and Parkinson’s.
On Wednesday 20th June 2012 Crossroads Care Hertfordshire North are planning an event at the Ware Priory. We are delighted to have Barbara Pointon MBE as our keynote speaker. Barbara will be talking about ‘Offering Enlightened Care and Support to People with Dementia and their Carers’ and including in that talk how it applies to other conditions such as Parkinson’s and Stroke sufferers.
If you care for somebody who suffers from Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s or has suffered a Stroke, and you would like to attend this event, please contact Jo Wilkinson on 01462 455578 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
